Greetings from the Walnut Grove Cemetery Association Board of Hector!  We would like to thank each of you for your generous donations through the years to our cemetery.  Our sacred grounds are beautifully maintained and remain a peaceful place for our loved ones because of your support. 

As we begin our new fiscal year, let this letter serve as a reminder and a request for your annual gifts.  Our maintenance fund continues to support the regular activities to keep the cemetery looking beautiful.  Our long-term care fund (LTC) allows us to generate income for future use.  Please specify which fund (maintenance, long-term care or both) you would like to designate for your donations. Your gifts are greatly appreciated.  Please send your tax-deductible gifts to Walnut Grove Cemetery, P.O. Box 125, Hector, AR 72843.   A list of donors for this past year (4-1-2024 to 3-31-2025) is included in this letter. 

Another opportunity for giving is our fund to purchase basic headstones for older graves that have been unmarked for many years (headstone fund).   Our cemetery guidelines were updated in 2023 to require a headstone be placed within two years of the burial or cremation to include name, date of birth, and date of death.   Thank you to those who have recently added headstones or markers. If any of your family member’s interment is incomplete, please consider this a reminder to obtain the required marker per WGC guidelines.   If you have questions regarding this requirement, please contact board member Joyce Coffman at 479-886-3590.

Many families have chosen to bury cremains at WGC. Just a reminder, that a board member must be contacted prior to burial of cremains.  Also, a note that cremains need to be buried on an existing reserved plot.  Per WGC guidelines, up to four individual cremains may be buried in one plot.  Please contact us if you need a copy of the guidelines or if you have further questions regarding the placement of cremains.

You are welcome to visit the cemetery to honor the graves of loved ones with flowers, etc., at your convenience. Decoration Day is set for Sunday, May 25th, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Walnut Grove Cemetery pavilion. All are welcome to participate.  The program each year is comprised of old-time gospel singing and Reverend Shannon Pruitt will be our speaker this year.

Please consider purchasing a memorial plaque to honor your loved one. These are available to be added to the Memorial Bridge at $100 each.  Also, for headstone cleaning information, contact Janice at 479-284-3084 for pricing and further details.

Our Maintenance Fund balance as of March 31, 2025, is $3500.00. We would like to thank you once again for all your generous donations to our maintenance and long-term care funds.
