TOMMY MAC CROUCH – John Section, Row D, Lot 21 (will be interred in the spring of 2018)

Tommy Mac Crouch died at Jamestown Health and Rehab in Rogers on July 31, 2017, from the effects of Lewy Body Dementia (LBD). He was born in Hector on Sept. 29, 1938, the only son of Floyd and Susie McAlister Crouch.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Rebecca Harper Crouch; his daughter, Carla Crouch Tate and husband Vince; and three granddaughters, Ellery, Willa and Lucy, all of Rogers; two sisters, Linda Tucker and husband Sonny and Carol Moyers and husband David, all of Hamburg; and four nephews. Tommy was preceded in death by his parents and his older sister, Billie Sue Borgelin.

Raised in the Freewill Baptist Church, he became a Methodist as a teenager. Tommy graduated with the Rison High School class of 1956. His college education at Arkansas A&M was interrupted by two years of U.S. Army active duty as a cryptographer at Fort Bragg, N.C.

After military service, he moved to Hamburg and met Home Extension agent Rebecca Harper, who became the cornerstone of his life. He graduated from A&M with a degree in accounting in 1965.

Tommy began his career at Russell Brown Accounting Firm in Little Rock. He and Becky moved to Hope in 1967, where they lived for over 30 years. Paul Klipsch, a client of his accounting firm, convinced Tommy to join his business as financial officer. When he retired from Klipsch & Associates, he was vice president of the company, the producer of the finest loudspeakers in the world.

Tommy then became interested in the miniature golf course boom in resort areas. He and friend Jimmy Lester designed and built Gator Golf, the first miniature golf course in Branson, Mo. Tommy later built Gator Golf miniature golf courses in Pigeon Forge, Tenn., Kissimmee, Fla., Fayetteville, Fort Smith and Hot Springs. His final project was Gator Park in Little Rock, which included miniature golf, go-carts and games.

After he was diagnosed with Lewy Body Dementia in 2012, Tommy and Becky moved to Rogers to be closer to their daughter and grandchildren. Due to early diagnosis, his medical regimen slowed the progression of LBD, allowing him several years to enjoy his family and friends.

It was Tommy’s wish to have his body donated for medical research concerning LBD. A celebration of his life will be held in the spring when his ashes are returned to Hector.

Memorial contributions may be made to Walnut Grove Cemetery, c/o Janice Mitchell, 1464 Welcome Home Rd, Hector, AR 72843.
