Born January 31, 1977 to Priscilla Lynn Harper McElfish and Rex Lamont Callan in Russellville, Arkansas. He died on December 15, 2018. He was married to Denise and they were parents to Asher Callan. In March 2019, he was buried with his mother in Walnut Grove Cemetery near Hector, Arkansas.
Shirley Ann Virden (Scott)
Shirley Virden, 80, of Appleton, passed away Monday, June 24, 2019. She was born April 20, 1939, in Appleton, daughter of the late Claude and Selma Derryberry Scott. She worked at The Eureka restaurant until it closed, then for Valmac, and drove a truck for Willis Shaw.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Virden; her parents; sisters, Jeanie Ross, Betty Potts, and Golda Rollins; brothers, Louis Scott and James Scott; and stepsons, Roger and Steve Virden. She is survived by a daughter, Melinda and husband Raymond Blackwell of Appleton; sister, Gail and husband D.L. Martin of Foster, Oklahoma; stepsons, Ron, Don, and John Virden of Atkins; stepdaughters, Patricia Hawman of Dallas, Texas, and Melody of California; 2 brothers, Richard Scott and wife Sissy, and Russell Scott and wife Sandy; 8 nephews; 7 nieces; 19 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and caregiver, April Bishop.

JIMMY WILLIAM COFFMAN
Age 79, of Hector, passed away Wednesday, July 10, 2019, at the Arkansas Hospice River Valley Home in Russellville. He was born September 21, 1939, in Hector, son of the late William Edward and Beatrice Martin Coffman. He was retired from Dow Chemical where he served as HR Manager, and he pastored at Thompson Chapel Church for 20 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents and 3 siblings, Faye Walker, Arthur E. Coffman, and Irene Coffman Hanna. He is survived by his wife of more than 60 years, Connie Coffman; daughter, Debbie and husband Tony Cochran; 2 sons, Jimmy Coffman Jr., and Roger Coffman and wife Betsy; 8 grandchildren, Earl Cochran, Kayla Robinson (Allen), Tyler Coffman, Lindsey Coffman, Kyle Coffman, Kevin Coffman, Kent Coffman, and Grace Coffman; 2 great-grandchildren, Halina Robinson and Mickey Cochran; and several nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Vallie Spragg Foose

Vallie Spragg Foose, age 91, of Ozark died Thursday, July 25, 2019, at Ozark Nursing Center. She was born March 6, 1928, in Dublin, Texas to Ernest L. and Beulah Victoria Gregg McClain.
She attended West Park Baptist Church in Ozark, Russellville and Ozark Senior Center. She worked 10 years with Avon Manufacturing and 15 years in the Russellville Public School System. She loved playing pool and won several trophies.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by four husbands, Lonnie R. Prince, Joseph A. Spragg, John Winn and James Don Foose; a son, Vernon Lynell Prince; four brothers, Floyd, J.L., Henry and Virgil McClain; two sisters, Tura Arnold and Mildred Winters; a grandson, Roger Dale Prince Jr.; and a great-grandson, Anthony Ernest Dale Prince.
Survivors include a son, Roger Dale (Carolyn Shields) Prince of Daniel, Wyoming; a daughter, Elaine Carroll of Ozark; a brother, Doyle McClain of Midland, Texas; a sister, Lois Marshall of Jonesboro; 5 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 30, 2019, at the Shinn Chapel with the Rev. Roy Cain and the Rev. Troy Vaughn officiating. Burial will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery near Hector and under the direction of Shinn Funeral Service of Russellville.

Lonnie David Cossey
NOVEMBER 25, 1924 ~ JULY 26, 2019 (AGE 94)
Age 94, of Russellville, died Friday, July 26, 2019 at the Arkansas Hospice River Valley Home in Russellville. The son of James and Lillie Bell (Cross) Cossey, he was born November 25, 1924 in Atkins. He worked as a carpenter and was always willing to help others by mowing their lawn or just visiting. He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Emma Boyd, Buddy Cossey, Ina Hill, Jessie Cossey. He was a veteran of the US Army.
Survivors include his daughters, Angela Paul of Conway, Bobbie Joe Noblett of Dardanelle, and Jessie Gail Samson of OH; numerous nieces and nephews; and numerous adopted children.

82, of Hector, passed away Thursday, July 25, 2019, at the Arkansas Hospice River Valley Home in Russellville. He was born March 16, 1937, in Hector, son of the late Andrew and Lula Dilday Robertson. He was a good husband, father, and grandfather and a compassionate friend. He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 daughters, Katrina and Tiffany; sister, Eunice; and brother, Benny. He is survived by his wife, Liliya Robertson; children, Debbie Nichols (Randy), Tracy Schwartz (James), Milissa Ennis (Derek), and Thomas Killough; and grandchildren, Lakin, Cecily, Annica, Kaitlyn, and Karah. Tammy Sue Derryberry-Seward
February 14, 1970 – August 02, 2019 Tammy Sue Derryberry-Seward age 49 passed away Friday, August 2, 2019 at the Arkansas Hospice River Valley Home. She was born on February 14, 1970 to Wayne Derryberry and Betty Derryberry. She studied horticulture at Russellville Area Vo-Tech. She was a graduate of Hector High School. She enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting and canning. She loved the time spent with grandchildren, children, family and friends. She was preceded in death by her father Wayne Derryberry and her nephew Axton Hunnicutt.
Survivors include her husband James Seward and three children: Randy Mewborn (Travis Broughton) of Russellville, Kasey Brock (Aaron) of Hector, Jonathan Mewborn and kids of Hector. One sister Shelley Hunnicutt (Bradley) of Pottsville. Nephew Blake Chenowith of Pottsville. Two grandchildren: Natalee and Tucker Brock of Hector.

DONALD EDWARD BROWN
97, of Hector, went home to be with The Lord Tuesday, August 20, 2019 at Stella Manor Nursing Home in Russellville. The son of Jesse and May (Thomas) Brown, he was born March 6, 1922 in Hector. He was a United States Army Veteran of World War II rising to the rank of Sergeant, and serving in the Ardennes Forrest, Central Europe, and Rhineland Offensive Campaigns. He received The Purple Heart for wounds sustained in battle. He married Floy Eulean Goates on February 7th, 1946 after returning from the war. They were married for 73 years until Mrs. Brown’s death in March of this year. They are now reunited in Heaven, never to be separated again.
Donald E. worked for the United State Forestry Service as a maintenance man for many years. He was a good neighbor and always willing to do the “discing” for their gardens if they needed it. He raised cattle and enjoyed vegetable gardening, but even more in giving away his produce to his friends and neighbors.
His greatest accomplishments were in raising his family and commitment to his wife. He was a member of the Hector Free Will Baptist Church, American Legion and Hector Rural Fire Department. He also enjoyed fishing as family, farming, and work permitted. He was preceded in death by his wife of 73 years, Floy Eulean Goates Brown; his parents; an infant daughter; grandson, Carrell Hanna III; brother, Houston Brown; and sister, Bernice Matthews.
Survivors left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Jeanne Laymon of Hector; two granddaughters, Carlotta Hanna of Russellville; Natalie Hill and husband Dustin of Russellville; six great grandchildren, Victoria Roberson, Kyler Roberson, Brock Hill, Anna Grace Hill, Dylan Hill, Katelyn Hill; and a special niece, Barbara Owens of Hector;
Pallbearers are Gary Rowlands, Bucky Snider, Darrell Rackley, Lloyd Rackley, Matt Owens, Bob Watson, and Dustin Hill. Honorary pallbearers are Lyle Aday.

Iva and John Fortner
9/11/2019 Iva Imo Fortner and John Larry Fortner passed away in Sierra Vista, Ariz.
Iva was born Jan. 18, 1928, in Hector, the daughter of Horace and Iva Condley.
She graduated from Hector High School. John Larry was born Nov. 29, 1926, in Grape Creek, Ill.
He served in WWII in the 187th Glider Infantry being honorably discharged as a Corporal with three service medals on Nov. 4, 1946.
John and Iva met in California. They were married Oct. 24, 1947.They traveled to Alaska via the ALCAN, the Alaska Highway, in 1951. They resided in Alaska for over forty years before retiring in Arizona.
John and Iva started their own business in Anchorage, Alaska. John became a contractor and they built homes and apartment buildings. Iva was very active in their business but especially enjoyed being a homemaker, cooking, sewing and entertaining. They both enjoyed the many outdoor activities that Alaska offers, fishing, camping and hunting. They built a cabin in the Alaskan wilderness beside a lake that their grandchildren and great-grandchildren still enjoy.
A special thank you to Iva’s three sisters, Helen, Shirley and Clarene for their loving kindness and help.
Iva was preceded in death by brothers and sisters Arvel, Elbert, Bill, Chloe, Lois, Stella and Loreda. They are survived by children Jana Persson, Vicki Jones and John Fortner; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren residing in Alaska, Idaho and Arizona. She has three sisters, Helen Blankenship, Shirley Johnson and Clarene Massey still living. Preceding John in death are brothers and sisters, Joe, Clarney, Louie, Pauline and Hallie. His oldest sister is still living, Audrey Jean Britz.
There will be a memorial service at 10 a.m. on Saturday at Walnut Grove Cemetery.
Radis William “Blackie” Cossey
Radis William “Blackie” Cossey, age 75, of London died on September 24, 2019 at his home. He was born on November 5, 1943 to the late Radis Cossey and Stella Duncan Cossey. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Pam Van Horn; a son, Ricky Cossey; grandson, Trevor Van Horn; brother, Randy Cossey; and uncle Lonnie Cossey.
Blackie loved gardening, reading, and fishing but most of all he deeply loved his children and grandchildren. He was an army veteran who served in Germany. He was a lifelong plumber and always enjoyed helping others in need.
Survivors include his daughter, Kim Witt and husband Michael; son in law, Scott Van Horn, and his three grandchildren, Carter Witt (Elizabeth), Dalton Van Horn (Nikki Wilburn), and Madison Van Horn. Siblings include: Delbert Cossey and wife Sondra; Lum Cossey and wife Lena; Bobby Cossey and wife Mary; Ann Byers and husband Buddy; Larry Joe Cossey and wife Carol and numerous nieces and nephews.

WATHENA (COFFMAN) WILLIAMS
83, of Hector, Arkansas, died Saturday, October 26, 2019, at Arkansas Hospice River Valley Home in Russellville. A daughter of Jasper and Ethel L. (Bowden) Coffman, she was born March 8, 1936, in Hector. For more than 25 years, she was a department supervisor for Matel Toys manufacturing in California. Wathena worshipped with her church family at Pottsville First Baptist Church. She loved to read, take care of plants, especially roses, spending time with family, loved nature, camping and was an amazing cook.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, J.W. Williams; two sons, Bobby & Jeffrey Williams; and two granddaughters, Shelina and Juanelle Dennis; six brothers and three sisters. She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Dennis of Needles, CA; her sister, Louise Tucker of Atkins; four grandchildren: Michael Williams (Angela) of Pottsville, Jacklyn Matherne (Ashton) of Benton, John Williams (Jennifer) of Pottsville, and Audrey Duvall (Robert) of Pottsville; seven great grandchildren: Hayden, Hunter, Kinsey, Zoe & Kamden Williams, Addyson Spence and Dison Matherne; a daughter-in-law, Kayla Williams; and many other nieces & nephews.

JOHN HUGH CHURCHILL
A resident of Dickson, Tennessee, died November 16, 2019 in Nashville, Tennessee. He was the son of Olen R. Churchill and Mary Josephine Cheek Churchill of Little Rock, Arkansas, both of whom predeceased him. He was born April 1, 1949. He is survived by his wife, Jean Hill Churchill, of Dickson, Tennessee, son William H. Churchill of Nashville (Emily), daughter Mary Katherine Churchill Curcio (Michael), of Dickson, son Hugh O. H. Churchill (Gwen), of Fayetteville, Arkansas, sister Betty J. Churchill of Chattanooga, brother Larry R. Churchill (Sande) of Nashville, Tennessee, and grandchildren Rosalind, Churchill, Edward, Margot, Timothy, Josephine, Emmett, and Theodore.
Churchill retired in 2016 as national Secretary (CEO) of the Phi Beta Kappa Society, based in Washington, D.C., a post he held for fifteen years. Prior to that he served for seventeen years as Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dean of the College at Hendrix College in Conway, Arkansas, including two stints as Interim President. In 1983-84 he was Dean of Students, and throughout his 24-year tenure at the College he taught Philosophy, ending his time there as Professor of Philosophy. He held a B.A. from Rhodes College, Memphis, a second B.A. and an M.A. from the University of Oxford as a Rhodes Scholar, and a Ph.D. from Yale. A member of the Society for Philosophy of Religion, he published widely in that field as well as in the philosophy of liberal education.
A polymath in a specialized age, Churchill was not only a philosopher and champion of the liberal arts, but also a collector of rocks, decorated athlete, friend of trees, humorous essayist and storyteller, and an enthusiastic horticulturist and cook. Churchill played Guard on the Arkansas champion Hall High School football team in 1967. At Rhodes he captained the varsity football team, was conference champion in the discus, and was later inducted into the Rhodes College Athletic Hall of Fame. In 1980, his pickled okra earned a blue ribbon at the Faulkner County Fair.
A celebration of Churchill’s life will be held Saturday, November 23rd at 11:00am in the Greene Chapel at Hendrix College in Conway, Arkansas. A reception will follow at the Mills Library. Interment will be at 2PM, Friday, November 22nd at Walnut Grove Cemetery, east of Hector, Arkansas by Humphrey Funeral Service.

JAMES THOMAS ELTON CHURCHILL JR.
Age 71, of Dover, was welcomed into the Kingdom of Heaven as afforded him by his profession of Faith on Wednesday, November 20, 2019.
It is with sadness of heart, and joy of spirit, that we share the passing of James Thomas Elton Churchill Jr. He was known to us as Dad and Poppa, but to others he was known as Mr. C, friend, and trusted mentor.
He was born on December 21, 1947, in Austin, Texas, to James Thomas Elton Churchill Sr., and Lorna Lewis Churchill.
Following graduation from King High School in Corpus Christi, Texas, Jamie moved back to Austin, where he earned a History and Political Science degree from the University of Texas.
After college, Jamie started his military service in the United States Army and continued serving in the Arkansas Army National Guard until his retirement in 2007.
In 1974, Jamie married Ann Paris in Corpus Christi, Texas, and they moved the family to Hector, Arkansas. In Arkansas, Jamie began his lifetime of service to children by taking a position with Wonderview Public Schools teaching Geography and English. After earning a Master’s Degree in Education from Arkansas Tech University, Jamie was made Principal of Wonderview High School.
Following his tenure at Wonderview, Jamie became Vice Principal of Russellville High School, then ultimately joined Dover Public Schools as high school Principal. He touched the lives of many students and teachers before retiring in 2010.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ann Churchill; a grandson, Patrick Freeman; a nephew, Kit Churchill; and son-in-law, Don Rowlands.
Jamie leaves many to honor his legacy, including his children, step-children, brother, and those he loved as his children.
Survivors include Jeffrey (Ester) Churchill, Judi Churchill, Janis Rowlands, Christia (Megan) Churchill, and Tres (Maia) Churchill; 15 grandchildren: Summer Frein, Megan Tawil, Grant Churchill, Jaqui Butler, Sara Jones, Laura Stumbaugh, Elyse Rowlands, Grace Caldwell, Gilliann Churchill, Elena Churchill, Quinn Truong, Piper Truong, Greer Thornton Churchill, Elijah Churchill, and Noah Churchill; numerous great-grandchildren; a brother, Keith Churchill; and a nephew, Spencer Churchill.
The funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m., on Saturday, November 23, 2019, at the Shinn Chapel with Mr. Tres Churchill officiating. Burial will be private in Walnut Grove Cemetery and under the direction of Shinn Funeral Service of Russellville.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the chapel.

BETTY REGINA (DUVALL) COFFMAN
Betty Regina Coffman, 79, of Jerusalem, passed away Thursday, December 5, 2019, at Baptist Health Medical Center, in Conway. She was born July 4, 1940, in Hattieville, daughter of the late A.J. Duvall and Woodene Bradley Duvall.
She was preceded in death by her husband, A.J. Coffman.
She is survived by her children, Gerald Coffman and wife Cindy, Andrea and husband Robert Eddy, Terry Coffman, David Coffman, Danny Coffman, Tina White, Shawn Coffman and wife Shannon, Jamie Coffman and wife Andrea; 28 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-granchild.

PAULINE (Humphrey) WESTBROOK
Age 90 of Hector died Saturday, December 14, 2019 at Dardanelle Nursing and Rehab Center. She was born May 4, 1929 at Louise, Mississippi to the late Clayton Issac Humphrey and Mary McDaniel Humphrey. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James William Westbrook; one son, Melvin Westbrook; two sisters, Christine Leech, Irene Smith; four brothers, Roy Humphrey, Elvin Humphrey, Howard Humphrey, J.B. Humphrey and three grandsons, Ronnie Gage Westbrook, David Duvall and Donnie Duvall.
Survivors include her children, Shirley Hodge of Michigan, Gail Gray of Atkins, Randy Westbrook of Plainview, Ronnie Westbrook of Atkins; one sister, Louise Deal; eleven grandchildren and many great grandchildren.

ANNA RUTH LLEWELLYN
Age 99, of Hector, went home to be with the Lord Saturday, January 11, 2020 at her home surrounded by her family. The daughter of George and Naomi (Robertson) McAlister, she was born June 19, 1920 in Hector. She was a high school graduate of the Hector Public School. She married John David Llewellyn on July 4th, 1940 in Oklahoma. She worked as a cook with the Hector Public School. She was a member of the Walnut Grove Free Will Baptist Church. She enjoyed fishing and quilting and spending time with family. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, John David Llewellyn; her parents; and 11 siblings.
Survivors include her son, George David Llewellyn; daughter, Sandra Turney; three grandchildren, Billy Joe Turney and wife Sherry, Jimmy T. Turney and wife Sara, and Margaret Turney, all of Hector; seven great-grandchildren, and 11 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous extended family.

LEAMON LENDEL PARRISH
Age 95, of Hector, died Saturday, February 1, 2020, at Russellville. A son of Loyd and Opal (Prince) Parrish, he was born August 16, 1924, in Appleton. He spent most of his working career as a cattle farmer and chicken grower. He was a member of the Welcome Home Free Will Baptist Church.
Leamon was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 75 years, Evelyn Parrish; a son & daughter-in-law, Kenny (K.P.) and Nancy Cochran Parrish; three granddaughters, Amanda White, twins Lana Beth & Shawna Beth Parrish; and a great-great grandson, Braxton Huffman.
He is survived by his daughter, Nelda Owens of Centerville; a son, Glen Parrish (Sharon) of Hector; four grandchildren, Lisa Gray (Billy), and Tracy Lusk (Ronald), both of Russellville; Jonathan Parrish (Casey) of Clarksville; Kay-leigh Harris (Tyler) of Hector; ten great grandchildren, Chris Gray (Natasha), Heather Huffman (Matt), Jennifer Rice (David), Kristen Nuckols (Justin), Seth Lusk (Brianna), Ben Lusk (Kristen), Chloe Parrish, Lily Parrish, Lorie Parrish and Cole Parrish; nine great-great grandchildren, Heylie Gray, Devin Nuckols, Zane Gray, Cole Huffman, Kashton Gray, Quinton Chronister, Klair Burns, Bristol Nuckols and Kamryn Lusk; a half-brother, Jerry Parrish (Jettie); a good friend, Frankie Branch; and many nephews & nieces.
Funeral Service will be held at 10:00AM, Thursday, February 6, 2020, at Welcome Home Free Will Baptist Church. Troy Coffman and Ronnie Molloy will officiate. Burial will be at Walnut Grove Cemetery in Hector, by Humphrey Funeral Service. Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 pm, on Wednesday at the funeral home. Active Pallbearers include: Chris Gray, Zane Gray, Seth Lusk, Ben Lusk, Chris Vincent and Gary Ray Andrews. Sherman Williams “Jake”
Age 45, of Hector, passed away Friday, April 3, 2020, at his home. He was born July 5, 1974, in Morrilton, the son of Roger Williams and Sarah Hon.
He is survived by his wife, Vicki Williams; his parents; sister, Becky; brothers, Roger, Jr., and Lucas; furbaby, Sadie; and numerous other family and friends.
